Elevating Social Media Presence through Marketing for Hotels: Master Builder’s House Hotel

Marketing for hotels is an essential strategy to enhance their visibility and attract more guests. Social media is such a fast-growing channel, that many businesses are finding themselves needing to keep up, and hotels are no different. But it’s not just about posting to social media, people want to see authentic content, capturing REAL people and REAL places. This is where onsite content capturing and social media strategy come together. Let me tell you about a previous hotel client of mine 👇.

The Master Builder’s House Hotel in Buckler’s Hard is an upscale New Forest hotel with a rich maritime history. Situated on the edge of the 18th-century shipbuilding village of Buckler’s Hard and 2.9 miles from the Beaulieu Abbey Church, this stately manor dates back to 1729. The hotel offers stylish and bright standard rooms with en suite bathrooms, flat-screen TVs, high-end linens, and tea and coffee-making facilities. Upgraded rooms feature designer interiors, original features, 4-poster beds, and antique headboards. The hotel boasts vintage common rooms with wood-beamed ceilings and antique fireplaces, a traditional pub, and an elegant restaurant with patio dining overlooking the Beaulieu River.

🔍 Project Overview

The primary objective was to enhance the hotel’s social media presence and create high-quality content that would capture its classic, cosy, and historic vibe. I connected with the Marketing Director of The Woodford Group via LinkedIn, who needed additional support in content creation for Master Builder’s House Hotel.

🤔 Challenges and Goals

The Marketing Director of The Woodford Group, which owns the Master Builder’s House Hotel and two other properties, reached out to me via LinkedIn. She needed additional help with creating content for the Master Builder’s House Hotel. The challenge was to enhance the hotel’s social media presence through effective marketing for hotels, capturing the classic, cosy, and historic vibe of the hotel and its restaurants. The Marketing Director was spread thin, travelling to three locations hours apart, and needed assistance from someone who could be on-site once or twice a month for a couple of days at a time.

👇 Solutions and Strategies:

I provided comprehensive social media marketing and content creation services, focusing on marketing for hotels. This included monthly shooting visits to film and capture the hotel, rooms, cottages, food, restaurants, bars, and grounds. My role encompassed:

  • Social media marketing for hotels
  • Content creation, including photography and videography
  • On-page SEO assistance
  • Coordination with the Marketing Director and hotel team

🪄 Implementation:

My approach involved monthly 2-3 day on-site stays to immerse myself in the hotel’s environment (I know, it’s a hard life). This allowed us to capture high-quality images and videos of the rooms, cottages, food, restaurants, bars, and grounds. We then spent the rest of the month working remotely to edit and schedule the content, ensuring a consistent and captivating social media presence.

🥇 The Results:

Through our collaborative efforts, we successfully increased social media traffic, engagements, and follows. The effective marketing for hotels strategy led to increased organic social traffic directed to the hotel’s website, resulting in increased revenue for the restaurants and hotel. The visually appealing and authentic content we created resonated well with the target audience, portraying the hotel’s unique charm and history.

🧐 Content Examples:

Instagram reel highlighting new menu item – roasted butternut squash arancini. Yes, this was delicious 😋.

Image showcasing a popular dish – pan-seared lamb rump, served with potato terrine and summer vegetables.

Another reel showcasing ‘behind-the-scenes’ content of a refreshed menu item – 40-day dry aged 8oz sirloin, served with beef and thyme pont neuf.

📖 Client Feedback:

The Marketing Director and the hotel team were highly satisfied with the results. They appreciated the value of the content days and the positive impact on the hotel’s online visibility and reputation. Our collaboration was smooth and effective, making it a rewarding experience for all parties involved.
